Death of Osama Bin Laden
Paris, May 2, 2011
President Obama’s announcement of Osama Bin Laden’s death in a remarkable US commando operation in Pakistan is a milestone in the global fight against terrorism. France hails the tenacity of the United States, which had sought him for 10 years.
The main person responsible for the attacks of 11 September 2001, Osama Bin Laden promoted an ideology of hatred and led a terrorist organization that claimed thousands of victims worldwide, particularly in Muslim countries.
For these victims, justice has been done. This morning, France is thinking of them and their families.
The scourge of terrorism has suffered an historic failure, but this is not the end of al-Qaeda. The fight against the criminals who uphold its principles must continue relentlessly and unite all nations that are the victims of these crimes./.
