Paris, November 28, 2011
Following the tragic and regrettable events that led to the death of at least 26 Pakistani soldiers during the night of 25 to 26 November, we extend our condolences to the bereaved.
As the NATO Secretary-General has already stated, an inquiry by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has been called for to establish the facts, determine who was responsible, and learn the required lessons. We lend our full support to the swift completion of this inquiry.
We call for continued cooperation between the Pakistani government and the NATO forces engaged in the stabilization of Afghanistan. This cooperation is vital for peace in Afghanistan and is in our common interest.
We reaffirm our support for the Pakistani government in its fight against the Taliban insurgency and terrorism in all its forms./.
