The President was deeply shocked to learn of the terrible train crash which happened in Canada in the Quebec town of Lac-Mégantic killing an as yet undetermined number of people and causing extensive material damage.

In these tragic circumstances, the Head of State’s first thoughts go to the victims’ families, to whom he expresses his wholehearted solidarity on France’s behalf.

The Head of State pays tribute to the efforts of all those on the ground who are working to find those missing and providing assistance to those affected.

In this ordeal, France stands alongside the Federal and Quebec authorities, who are facing up to the aftermath of this tragedy with courage and determination./.
