Nigeria/Francis Collomp’s freedom

Published on November 19, 2013
Communiqué issued by the Presidency of the Republic

Paris, November 17, 2013

The French President is delighted that our compatriot, François Collomp, is free. He had been held hostage in Nigeria since 20 December 2012.
France never ceased in its efforts to achieve this happy outcome.

The President expresses his full gratitude to the Nigerian authorities – with whom France cooperated closely – for their decisive action.

Despite this very long-awaited news, we have not forgotten that seven of our compatriots are still being held hostage in Syria, Mali and Nigeria. France will continue working tirelessly for their release.

The President has asked Laurent Fabius to go to Nigeria immediately to welcome Francis Collomp./.
