Q. – There’s been a lot of debate in Britain this week about relations with the EU. Are you ready to accept treaty changes to meet the demands of the British? Is France preparing for a European Union without Britain?
The United Kingdom is a very important partner for us. The French President and the Foreign Minister have spoken about the priorities for Europe in 2014. They must come within the framework of the existing treaties: on the basis of established law, we have a lot of room for manoeuvre to re-energize European integration. France’s priority today isn’t to modify the treaties but to deepen European integration in the framework of the existing texts./.
