The French President has today spoken to Mr Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of Poland. They shared their deepest concern following the decision by Russia’s Federation Council to authorize sending Russian troops into Ukraine, which poses a real threat to Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The President said everything must be done to prevent a foreign intervention and the risks of an extremely dangerous escalation.

The President welcomed the joint action of Poland, Germany and France to resolve the crisis. He called for swift, coordinated European action at the next Foreign Affairs Council, on 3 March./.
