If you accept the principle that a region in a country, contrary to that country’s constitutional rules, can decide to join another country – especially if that other country has encouraged it to do so –, it means there’s no longer any international peace or any guaranteed borders.
We must be very vigilant about this.
Imagine what it could mean in Europe if this or that region, contrary to the constitutional rules and what its government wishes, decided to change country.
Imagine what it could mean in Africa, the Middle East, China or elsewhere. We must be very mindful of this./.
