Nobel Peace Prize
Paris, October 10, 2014
The Nobel Peace Prize awarded jointly to Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi rewards their outstanding commitment to children’s rights.
François Hollande pays tribute to Malala Yousafzai’s immense courage in upholding the right to education, particularly for girls, and to Kailash Satyarthi’s dogged efforts denouncing child labour.
Let us remember that children are still the first victims of conflicts in the world. It is they who are massacred and taken hostage, if not forcibly conscripted. Far too many of them, in too many countries, are still deprived of the fundamental right to education.
France takes this opportunity to reaffirm its determination to work in the framework of international conventions for the effective protection of children’s rights./.
