Egypt/sale of 24 Rafale fighter planes
Paris, February 12, 2015
The Egyptian authorities have just informed me today of their intention to acquire 24 Rafale fighter planes and a multi-mission frigate, together with the related equipment. These assets will enable Egypt to increase its security and play its full role in supporting regional stability.
This is the first export contract for the Rafale fighter plane.
The state played a fully active role in the negotiations and, through its involvement, enabled the contract to be concluded.
The signature will take place in Cairo on 16 February, and I have asked French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to sign on France’s behalf./.
