Ukraine - President Hollande’s conversation with several international leaders
Paris, March 3, 2015
The French President spoke this afternoon to the American President, the German Chancellor, the British and Italian Prime Ministers and the President of the European Council about the situation in Ukraine.
All the leaders gave their full support to the Package of Measures adopted in Minsk on 12 February and confirmed their agreement on ways to resolve the crisis in eastern Ukraine.
They recalled the link existing between the sanctions in force and the implementation of the whole Minsk package.
They agreed that a strong reaction by the international community would be necessary in the event of a major breakdown in the process of implementing the measures adopted in Minsk.
They confirmed the OSCE’s essential role in ensuring the process is monitored, particularly in terms of respect for the ceasefire and for the withdrawal of heavy weapons. They expressed the desire for the OSCE’s resources to be increased to that end.
All the leaders will continue, moreover, to lend their support to the efforts being made by the Ukrainian authorities to put their country’s economy back on a sound footing.
They also discussed the situation in Libya./.
