Singapore/death of Mr Lee Kuan Yew
It was with deep sadness that I learned of the death of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister and founder of Singapore. I extend my sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to the whole Singaporean nation.
An exceptional statesman, Lee Kuan Yew shaped his country’s history since its independence in 1965. As the architect of his country’s economic and social development, he made Singapore one of Asia’s major economic hubs.
With Singapore and France this year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, I salute the memory of a visionary leader and a friend of France./.
