Statement by M. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development

Vienna, July 7, 2015

As expected, it isn’t easy. There have been periods of tension, but the negotiation is continuing. As regards France, we are according particular importance to the necessary limits concerning nuclear production and research, sanctions and then these being restored should there be a violation of the commitments made, and also on the possible military aspect.

I’m going back to Paris this evening because I have to attend the Council of Ministers’ meeting. And then tomorrow, at the Senate, there’s a parliamentary debate on Greece. I’ll come back to Vienna to resume the discussion in person.

My delegation has been left instructions so that France continues to put across the same viewpoint, that of constructive firmness, which is ultimately the only way of reaching a robust agreement./.
