U.S. hero Spencer Stone honored at the Embassy of France
On December 17, Staff Sergeant Spencer Stone was honored at the Annual Reception for French and U.S. police forces, hosted by Police Attaché Pierre-Edouard Colliex. Stone spoke about the actions he and his friends took to thwart a terrorist attacker on a train going from Amsterdam to Paris this past August. He stressed the importance of remaining courageous in the face of grave threats: "You can’t be afraid, you can’t live your life in a bubble. That’s exactly what they want."
Ambassador Gérard Araud thanked all members of the police forces present for their service, and said, "We will face 2016, side by side, shoulder to shoulder." In addition to Stone, a special guest dog from the non-profit "K9s4COPS" was present. The organization plans to donate a canine to replace Diesel, the police dog that was lost in the November 18 raid following the attacks in Paris.
