I am truly sorry for the fight all French citizens have been having to go through. It’s impossible to ever measure up the amount of loss and hurt that one may go through. A country should never have to battle through so much loss. I send my prayers to all those who were affected, as well as the families. You are in our hearts. Pamela P. |

The attack on the innocents of Nice is absolutely disgusting. I had hoped the culprits would be captured alive to face justice, but of course the cowards chose not to face France’s wrath. I have long since studied France (my family is of French origin, moving to America in the 1760’s), and I have great respect for your country. I am actually in the middle of researching attending college in France, as well as moving there to become a citizen. Warm Regards, and my heart goes out to the victims of this cowardly attack on Nice. Thomas E. |

It was Bastille Day, we were watching the Paris Celebration on the French Channel 341. It was with great proud, since my Father was a Cavalerie Officer, also in charge of the Cavalerie Musique School in Saumur. Few hours later,I could not believe with terror what was appening in Nice. We visited Nice twice, we stayed at the Negressco. I had a very special memory of the beauty of the Promenade des Anglais. Now my soul is in great pain for the people who are left with such attrocities and to the pain and souffrance that the survivors who left with a long recovery. I will pray each day with the help of God,I hope that he will be your salvation. Stay strong , I am thinking of you and wich that I could hold you in my arms to consol you. God Bless, a Friend.

Jason W. |

A message of loving kindness to all the French people, May you all be happy well and peaceful, May no harm come to you, May no difficulty come to you, May all beings be happy well and peaceful. I also remember my great stepmother Solange from Bellac who during the first World War met my great grandfather Harold Stearns and took such fine care during the war. The French people during the 2nd world war protected my grandfather Harold Stearns jr. as he worked in the OSS and hid among the French villages. Without their care and help I might have lost my grandfather so I feel that if their is any comfort we can offer it reflects the deep connection my family has had through 2 World wars. With deepest compassion, Susan S. |

Your Excellency, Embassy Staff in Washington, President and dear people of France, Words cannot describe our profound sadness at the attack in Nice and at all that France has suffered in the past year. There is a deep and special bond between the United States and France, our very first friend. As a scholar of history, I have had priceless opportunities to study in France and to live with and learn from the French people, in Paris, Rouen, Le Havre, Metz, Chartres, Aix, and Nice. I remember with deep affection the warmth and kindness of the people toward me. No student of history can fail to be moved by France’s courage and strength or to see how she has endured and prevailed. In the next days and weeks, and long after the media has gone, we shall be thinking of the people of France. We grieve with you for loved ones. We pray for the families, for the injured, and for all who are hurting. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and profound solidarity. We love you and stand with you. Celeste H. and family |

Dear Ambassador and all French Citizens, Please accept our family’s most sincere sympathy on the Bastille Day terrorist attack in Nice. Forgive my very limited ability to speak French, but I remembered these words for those who were lost: hommes, femmes, enfants, brothers and sisters in our larger human family, innocents all. May God welcome each precious soul with an angelic choir and tender love. May all those injured have the best of medical and nursing care to recover. May all the families of so many nationalities who are mourning a loved one be comforted by God’s angels and by all of us on Earth who will honor the memory of the ones who were lost yesterday. Very Sincerely Yours, Mr. And Mrs. Steven G. K., Mr. Evan K. and Ms. Teresa K. |

It was with great shock and horror that I received the news of the most recent attack on the people of our best and oldest ally, the Republic of France. I, and the rest of the common American citizens, weep for your losses and feel nothing but contempt for the uncivilized cowards who would commit such a most heinous crime. Those of us who belong to the civilized world must stand together and end these assaults on the innocent; until the message is brought home most forcefully to every madrassa, every state harboring terrorists, every radicalized rogue- of whatever religion- that attacks on the civilian population by unaffiliated criminals will not be tolerated and the penalty is death, we will all suffer as France suffers now. I pray for your victims, for the survivors, for the government of France, and for all of us with barbarians at our gates... Bless the people of France, and grant you peace and relief from fear. The citizens of America stand with our great friends and allies. Viva La France! Raymond O. |

My profound condolences. I would like to offer my sincere regrets for the tragic attack on France and on people in Nice on Bastille Day 2016.

I am so shocked and sorry, mostly upset over the attacks that France has suffered in recent months, not to mention other countries in Europe. This most recent attack is outrageous and grotesque in it’s complete inhumanity. Before this incident my family was dealing with health issues and now I’m so torn between attending a vigil nearby if any and my normal day to day responsibilities. France has been a great ally to the United States of America and this is so upsetting. just emotional and not enough comprehension. This past Monday I visited the National Shrine and their mini Grotto of Lourdes for the Virgin Mary. There are always so many candles lit there. I don’t think they can make any more available to have lit at a time. Our thoughts and prayers are with France and other victims of such horrific events. Saint Lucy and Saint Blaise have been prominent in unexpected ways lately so remember the Community of Saints and we are all called to be Saints. Best wishes Ben |

I’m actually in tears while writing these few lines and I feel both sadness and anger at the same time. This happened in Nice but it could have happened everywhere else.
