Gainsbourg (Vie héroïque) follows the renowned French singer’s upbringing in occupied France, his first successes, love affairs, and late experience with reggae in Jamaica.

An audacious portrayal of the charismatic singer’s life, Gainsbourg is unconventional and imaginative in its use of fantastical elements representing the singer’s conscience at very crucial moments of his life.
The fictitious character called “The Mug” embodies an animated exaggeration of Gainsbourg’s character and adds an imaginative touch to the plot that Sfar echoes in his visual style.

Perfectly incarnating the dramatic intensity of the movie, the soundtrack includes many of Gainsbourg’s most famous songs.
