7 US military officers receive prestigious French Awards
On November 9, 2011, Mr. François Delattre, French Ambassador to the United States, bestowed the French Legion of Honor, France’s most prestigious award, and the National Order of Merit, upon seven US military officers.
General Chandler was named Officer in the Legion of Honor. Mr. Ferguson, Mrs. Long and Lieutenant General Robling also received the Legion of Honor, in the rank of Knight.
General Dunwoody and Lieutenant General Vane were made Commanders in the National Order of Merit. Rear Admiral Cullom was bestowed the National Order of Merit, in the rank of Officer.
The ceremony was held at the Ambassador’s Residence in Washington, D.C.
